ezRez Taps Sprout for Marketing Overhaul

Well that's pretty much the story right there. We just thought you'd want to know.

Actually, we couldn't be more excited about expanding our relationship with ezrez. They're a great company, well positioned in the market, with an excellent product portfolio. The kind of company we'd like to work for if we weren't working for ourselves.

Last fall, we took on the crazy challenge to develop a trade show demo for them. The demo had to be fully self-contained, capable of running on any laptop with just a web browser, and yet still be able to capture user information. Oh ya, we had 12 days to go from kick off to delivery.

It was a blast, and you can check it out here.

Our first thought was "Nah, that can't be right. We're in a recession."

Then it was "Isn't Q1 generally the worst quarter?"

That was followed by "Who knew? Cool."

And finally Cameron said "Can you smell that pepper up in here?"

So, it's not a huge surprise that we let Q1 get away from us without telling anyone that, in fact, it was our most successful quarter ever. We'll be the first one's to admit it. We do a lousy job of promoting ourselves. We're always so busy running around worrying about our projects, trying building a small company and feeding the parking meters downstairs. Product launches, new client announcements and our marketing plan (don't get us started) always seems to get left behind.

Over the past couple of weeks, we've been taking stock of just what little ol' Sprout accomplished in the first quarter and you'll have to forgive us for acting like proud parents watching their kids in their first school play.

Q1 saw the launch of three projects that we're incredibly excited about. All were at least six months in the making and each showcases the kind of work we do as an organization. We'll be expanding each into more formal case studies over the coming months, but for now we wanted to provide a quick overview of each to show you what we've been up to lately.

First Up, the SPCA!

SF/SPCA

We've been working with the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals since the Spring of 2008. The first order of business was to take care of an aging sfspca.org. Sprout provided all the requirements gathering, discovery and comparative research, as well as the user experience and visual designs. Launched in early January of 2009, initial feedback has been exceptionally positive.

The sfspca.org redesign marks the first step in a broader effort to transform the way the SF/SPCA conducts business online. As their Agency of Record, Sprout is now helping the SF/SPCA on a host of fronts, including business strategy, enterprise application redesign, and marketing outreach.

The Beacon Collaborative

The Beacon Collaborative is a collection of nearly 40 San Francisco Bay Area hospitals that have joined forces to share data, best practices, and their collective wisdom in an effort to improve quality and overall patient safety at all of their partner hospitals. Beacon was coming off poorly executed off-shoring experiment, and turned to Sprout to do a reboot on beaconcollaborative.org.

Sprout conducted a broad requirements analysis that included interviewing key hospital contacts, internal stakeholders, day-to-day users and other hospital collaboratives. In addition, we mapped the business processes around hospital data submission, approval and eventual display. Sprout also provided the user experience design, visual design and implementation. The implementation is built on one of the new open source CMS' and integrates directly with EventBrite and Constant Contact for event management and campaign management respectively.

The newly designed site rolled out in February and has received wide acclaim from Beacon Collaborative members.

Avi Vest

If you're an adventure skier, snowboarder or snowmobiler, the Avi Vest could save your life. The Avi Vest inflatable vest is activated by a ripcord and designed to lift the wearer to the top of the snowpack and create a breathable space in an avalanche. Avi came to Sprout with the original prototype looking for a Go To Market plan, including a new commerce-enabled corporate site.

For this project, Sprout provided the initial requirements gathering, user experience design, visual design, site development and commerce integration via Shopify. The project went live in late March, and now Sprout is working with Avi on the product rollout and marketing strategy.
